New York - The Stanton Social

I decided that this year I was going to try and ramp up my blog postings.  Of course, there will always be the standard new listings, open houses and solds as well as "everything real estate" posts.  But there is also enjoyment in writing about other interests and, most importantly, SHARING THEM.

For those who know me personally, you all know of my love affair with Manhattan.  I am always planning and thinking about my next visit - where will I shop, where I will eat, what favourite places will I return to and I am always longing to discover something new that I might add to my growing list of interesting and favourite places in the City.

A new favourite that I discovered last year is THE STANTON SOCIAL.  Located on the LES (that's the Lower East Side...I will definitely have to think about writing a 101 on the neighbourhoods of Manhattan and their cleaver acronyms...remember there was SOHO way before they coined Bragelina).

The Stanton Social is all about small plates.  The server will recommend the number of plates to order based on the number of people in your party and then the kitchen decides the order that they will come out in.  They are not all dumped on your table at once.  After my second visit to The Stanton Social, I discovered that the owner is Chris Santos who is one of the judges on the FOOD Network show "Chopped".

I highly recommend the Grilled Asparagus and the Potato & Goat Cheese Perogies.

The space features a 30 ft wine wall that houses over 2,000 bottles of wine, leather handrails, sexy rounded banquets and the "new york" feel with the painted exposed brick wall...subtle and understated luxury.

Arrive a little early and head upstairs to the bar for a martini beforehand...you won't be disappointed.

Added to my list for my next visit will be dinner at Beauty and Essex...another one of Chris' restaurants.
